Impression Obsession Challenge - Fall

Impression Obsession has some of the most amazing images ever! They are so detailed and easy to color with your Copic Markers. Gary Robertson is one of my very favorite rubber stamp artists. He puts a ton of hash marks or shading marks in his image which makes it so easy to color! He has done the shading for you... Just use your darker colors where his hash marks are heavier. Now how easy is that! Your shading and highlights will be properly placed every time!

Hello Cupcake!

This little girl is just SOOO cute! I really had fun coloring her...... I am normally a pastel girl but lately I am really into these bright colors....

PLAYING WITH DIMENSION
I love how her hat is colored that makes it look dimensional. I shaded the sides and bottom of the white puffy part with N1 to give it some shape. I also added a bit of N2 on the sides of the blue band (over the blue).

Today is my brother Billy's birthday... this is me making him cupcakes.... LOL.. bet he would really like that!

The bowl looks like its dimensional because I used the lightest color in the center of the bowl and darker colors on the outside part of the bowl. This tricks our eyes into thinking that the sides of the bowl are further away from our eyes than the sides of the bowl. (same with the eggs and cupcake)

COLORS USED:
bowl/shirt: rv00, rv63, rv55, rv19, Y32, Y35, Y38
cupcake: YG11, YG13, YG17, E30, E37
eggs: E40, E42, E44
face: E000, E00, E11, R21
Hat: Puffy part N1, Blender
Hat/apron Band: B00, B02, N2 Blender
Hair: Y21, E33, E35, E37
chocolate cake batter (is there any other flavor?) E49

Penny Black Kitty colored by Jennie Black

LOL.. No I am not related to Penny Black.. I am asked that all the time.. I don't think there is a real Penny Black.. just the name of a Stamp company that I happen to love...

Here is a fun Birthday cards..... both bright and cheery with the bright colors I seem to be loving lately! Enjoy!

Copic Colors Used.
Kite: R22, R24, Y32, YR31, Bo1, Boo YG11, YG13
Kitty: YR31, YR21, YR24,
Cheeks: R21
Sky: B00

Tip: Make sure to use darker colors to help give dimension to the image.. IE: I used YR24 just behind the feet and under the chin to make the tummy look further away than the head and feet. Make sure that the part of the image closer to our eye or light source is lighter than the behind piece.

Copic - Coloring Black & Dark Colors

Class information below
Coloring with black and other dark Copic Markers can be challenging. The darker markers (numbers ending in 6-9) have more dye in them than the lighter colors. Therefore, providing a much higher chance of "feathering" outside the lines or more "bleeding". It is also much harder to correct or "erase" our mistakes.

Here are a few tips to remember when coloring with dark colors.

Black: Use various shades of gray, so that you can have a highlight (#'s 1-2), Mid-tone (#3-5) and shading color (#7-9) This will give a black look with highlights and volume. Using grays will also allow the artists rendering to be seen through the colored areas. (lines from the rubber stamp image). Coloring in all black would hide the artists drawn lines).

Over Saturation: Be careful not to oversaturate an area with wet ink. If the area becomes over saturated with wetness, it will bleed outside the lines. If your paper is becoming too wet, you may want an area to dry or partially dry before adding another layer. Even after the ink dries, the area will bleed faster than a new piece of paper because some of the fibers in the paper are already used up. Use less layers of ink when using dark colors to prevent over saturation.

Correcting: To lighten an area where you have too much ink or if ink is in an unwanted area, be sure to correct SLOWLY! This means that you correct with your blender pen by pushing the color back to the area you want it (inside the lines). Be very gentle and use only a tiny bit of blender pen at a time. It is important to let the blender pen solution dry before trying to clean your mess again. If you use too much blender solution, the color inside the lines will wick right outside the lines and make a bigger mess than you had to start with. The dark ink seems to stain the paper and won't always clean up. You may want to consider cutting out your image and glueing it onto your project, or adding a shadow or outline around the image to "hide" the mistake. Remember that the Blender pen is not a "eraser" it just moves the ink around. Too much fluid will make it run be uncontrollable.

Have a Sunny Day

Here is one more La La Land Image.... Yes, it may have been cloudy today but dang... I dug out one rose bush and need a shower... it's hot and muggy out there.... Go away humidity and come back sunny days... actually a cool rainy day sounds really relaxing....

This little sunshine is Mermaid Marci by La La Land Crafts. She is available at many of the stores I teach at (listed in below posting).

Note: Placement of Marci had to be on the left side of the card so that she was looking at the greeting. Had I put her on the other side she would have been looking at nothing and would have looked funny. When making a hand made card, be sure to know what your image is looking at... Marci also looks like the sun is hitting her tail and back side... the greeting looks like it could be the light source.

Colored her in pink for a pink challenge.. how fun is that! Very girly...

of course I used my COPIC'S.... gotta love 'em...
pink combos include: RV00, RV63, RV55 and RV19
hair: YR21, YR24, Y00
Clear Coic Atyou Spica Pen

wanted a pink satin ribbon but I think it might have been too much.. i like it clean and simple.
