Penny Black Alcohol Marker Card Class

Happy Spring!
Here are three of the cards we will be coloring at Scrapbooking Made Simple inSanta Clarita. Date is the last sunday of the month! Whew Hew.. classes normally sell out so you will want to reserve your seat asap!

I decided to do so me Penny Black spring images... I just love Penny Black images even though it has nothing to do with the last name.. LOL.. - No relationship other than fondness... My class layouts are clean and simple so that we can concentrate on the coloring rather than gluing a fancy

card together... Everyone gets a color copy so they can finish the card at home if we don't finish in class... that way everyone works at their own pace! Garden Kitty
Is she cheery or what! I love these bright spring colors. She was fun to color and is sure to delight even those folks who are not cat lovers.. LOL..this cat does not shed unless you count the scraps of paper on the floor that I dropped while making the card.. shhhh..

Hat/boots: Y11, Y15, Y17or Y19 or Y32, Y35, Y38 (orangeish)

Green: YG03, YG63, YG67 Kitty: W1, W3, W5

shovel heads: C1, C3 orange: YR02, YR04

Spectrum Noir colors:

Yellows, greens, brown grays, browns

Fishing Bear
Here is the fishing bear - what a great card for a boy or man of any age. Greeting is reserved for the inside of the card so you can personalize it for that special occasion.

Blues: B91, B93, B95 Greens: Y11, YG03, YG63

Browns: E30, E33, E35, E37 Reds: R24, R27, R59 (or R89)

Gray: C1, C3, C5 Water: B00, B02

Spectrum Noir colors:

Blues, Greens, Browns, Reds, Ice grays

And finally we have this darling little boy with pails of frogs... Reminds me of the day Austin and his friend Casey Smith went frog catching.. what an event that was.. they ran into a wild Cougar! Threw their frog catching stuff and ran .. it was

a long trek through wild blackberry bushes. A few scratches later (from the black

berries not cougar) they were safe at a neighbors house where we retrieved them by car! Scary, but they were soon back to frog hunting.

Hat/vest/shoes: Yr2, YR24, E33 Shirt: R22, R24

Jeans: B91, B93, B95 or B41/B45 Sky: B000

Pails: C1, C3, C5 Grass & greens: YG03, YG36, YG67

froggies: greens plus Y11 Face; E00, E11, R21

Spectrum Noir colors:

Golden Browns, Greens, blues, ice grays, facial skin set. reds

Coloring Hair/faces - Copic

Back by popular demand. This was posted several times here on my blog, but it has been requested a million times that I repost.. so here it is.. hope it helps.

Remember! people are often intimidated by coloring images that have faces. LOL.. it's just paper, if you mess up there is usually a round bin near by to toss it into and start over..... the only way you will bet better at coloring anything is to practice.. trust me, many of my images get tossed to the round file (needs emptied quite often...LOL).

Hugs,
Jennie

March Alcohol Marker Classes - Copic & Spectrum Noir

Hi Everyone!

Here are a few more samples for some of my March Classes. I am so into flowers right now and my students seem to love them. These images are both by Impression Obsession. Are they great or what?

I had fun adding a bit of texture to these flowers. I didn't blend them as much as I normally do and I love the effect.

Tip: To leave more texture - blend less and let each layer dry a bit more than when trying to get a nice smooth blend of colors.

Tip: Note that I put the highlight in the center of many of these petals. That is to show that the petal is bending in the middle causing the light to hit the center of the petal stronger than other areas of the petal. Highlight is often shown only on the tips of flowers, this shows a variation on where to put highlight on flower petals.

Enjoy your day
Jennie

COPIC: R21, R22, R24, G20, G82, G85, And a bright & dull yellow like Y15 & YR24
SPECTRUM NOIR: Reds CR1, CR3, CR7, DG1, DG2, DG3, CT4, GB5

March Alcohol Marker Classes - Copic & Spectrum Noir

Totally love these springy colors! Both image are by Impression Obsession and will be projects in my March Alcohol Marker classes. I hope you can join us for one of my classes.

Both are colored with alcohol markers (see color list below). The phone is layered in several layers popping up the phone as well as the dial. I had so much fun coloring the phone and cutting it out for this card. Both cards use the same colors (the flowers don't have brown). Basic coloring was used focusing the darker colors in the creases of the flowers where there would be more shadow.

Note that in my flower card I colored the bottom of each flower petal darker than the top of the petal. This was done to show layering. It shows that the lighter top of the petal is in front of the darker petal behind it.

SPECTRUM NOIR COLORS: Reds CR1, CR3, CR7, Yellows CT1, CT2 CT4, greens DG1, DG3, DG3, and a brown

COPIC COLORS: Y11, Y15, Y17, G20, G82, G85, E35, R20, R22, R24 (No oranges just used my R24 for the yellow/red color)

NOTE: I saw a similar card to this phone card at CHA I believe it was made by Dina Kowal on the Impression DT...... I do not normally copy cards, but I just LOVED her card and copied her layout! Thanks Dina!

Blog Candy Winner! Donna

I hope you have all been having a great summer so far! I have been super busy, playing, boating, and teaching tons of classes... so fun.

The winner of the Blog candy is.... listed below... Donna, please send me our mailing info and I will get your hand signed copy of the book to you right away!

Congrats!

Donna said...Wow, asking me to choose my favorite Copic Trio is like asking a kid to pick his favorite dessert at the bakery! But if I were pinched to do so, the frosting on my cupcake would be R81, R83, and R85. I'm a pink kind of gal and layer it with some dark chocolate browns, E55, E57, and E59 and I'm in dessert heaven! :-)

Help me name this class.. I originally called it dots and doodles. It is adding texture, patterns etc to the image. dotted ground, fabric patterns to the clothing, water squiggles in the water etc... I need a name for the class that is snazzy and simple. Dots and doodles is not working for me.. LOL... Of course a prize will be sent for the best class name.

Heartfelt Creations - Scrapbooking Made Simple

Heartfelt Creations - Spring Cardinal card.

I received this wonderful stamp as a gift from Scrapbooking Made Simple in Santa Clarita. It is an amazing store, and if you can't make it to their store in person, be sure to go to their website and order from there! How simple is that! Not only can you order this stamp but also the coordinating Spellbinders dies... they are to dye die for... LOL.. sorry. Order Here!

Here I colored the image then mounted onto a simple 6 x 6 card.

As always, start with your lightest color first, then add your next lightest color and so on.
When blending two colors
together, use the lighter of the two colors touching each other to blend them together. IE: R22, R24, R2
7 use the R22 to blend where the R22 & R24 join together, and use the R24 to blend where the R24 and R27 join together
The image was colored with the following colors.
Bird: R22, R24, R27, R59 (less of each color as you get darker focusing on the areas with more hash marks or areas behind other areas IE: below the wing is darker to make the wing look popped up closer to the eye).
Cherries: Base is Y32, Y35 then I added R22, R24, R27, and a Bit of R59. Again using less of each color as you go darker. (I showed a photo of cherries prior to adding a final layer of R22. The yellow was too bright for my liking so I just added a layer of R22 to redden it up a bit).
Leaves: YG01, YG03, YG63, YG67 again using less of each color as you go darker.

Flowers For You!

I am just so in love with these Stampavie images. They remind me of my old Holly Hobbie Lunch pail, and tee shirts.
Yes, I am telling my age, but I LOVED everything Holly Hobbie. This little girl's name is Bernadette from the Sara Kay collection by Stampavie. Her Jeans were so much fun to color.
TIP: leave white space when coloring your first layer so that you can have highlights, so much easier to add color than to remove it. B41, B45, B95
Her hair was also fun as the artist left lots of areas to leave highlights adn shadows. I love her! Isn't she the cutest little girl ever! Y11, Y21, E33
See ya tomorrow... with images from Our Craft Lounge.....
Hugs!
