This is a repost from last fall... I am thinking of doing this card at SMS next month for a quiet break from the holiday buzz.... what do you think? (and maybe roses). This time of year I love Carmel Apple Cider... and apple pie so thought it would be fitting.
I LOVE this image. It was so fun to color. I was sitting at the car dealer waiting for my car to get fixed (something in the steering column) and had plenty of time to color. I didnt have the right colors for the inside of my apple and ended up redoing them after I got home (cut and paste) I love the E50's for my apple centers and cant wait to do it again without cut and pasting... isn't paper crafting perfect... if ya boo boo you just cover it up! In this image, I used more gray rather than a brighter colors to shade and shadow.

At the Intermediate Certification we talked about shading with grays or colors with more gray in them. Here I used more gray rather than a more intense color as I had previously used. This way of shading makes more sense to me than just using a more intense color. IE: when shading use the same color Plus 10 in grayness (first number) and 2 in brightness (second number). For Example for R27 I would shade with R39. If you don't have a color that is darker then try adding a bit of gray to your image. Note I also added some Yellow in both my red and green apples. I took a look at a real apple and it had green and yellow in the red so I thought i would give it a try. It worked - it is so amazing what ya can do with Copic Markers....
